Too many people are suffering from preventable, food-related illnesses; we aim to markedly decrease that population. Period. Hit devastatingly hard by this are residents of food deserts, who's rates of type-2 diabetes, obesity and hypertension are ever-increasing and disproportionate to non-food desert residents. Hit devastatingly hard by this are residents of food deserts, who's rates of type-2 diabetes, obesity and hypertension are ever-increasing and disproportionate to non-food desert residents. Our nonprofit, The Urban Kitchen Table, seeks to create a food oasis in as many food deserts across the country as possible. Through our passion and unique approach to providing education about, and access to, healthy foods, we boldly venture to create economic opportunity, foster community, and LIVE!
